IPL goes global....

Posted by ani_aset in ,

Its official...the baap of all entertainment shows is going global. Due to security issues it will not be held in India. The bad part is that fans in India will not be able to catch their favourite players in stadium. I think IPL was creating the same fan following amongst Indians in the same way as EPL and other football leagues across world,  has done for football fans across the world.

The good thing now i think is cricketers will no longer have security as a concern, not that India could not have provided security. India will also be hosting its own 5-yearly political contest, so that is going to be interesting too.

Its going to be tough this year i guess.Teams have had enough time to think over their strategies (Rahul dravid does not fit into IPL frankly, and Royal challengers have done good enough to Getting back to the teams,Sehwag and Gambhir are in amazing form and that gives Delhi daredevils a fair chance to make it to semis.Rajasthan Royals should not have much problem in reaching semis. Chennai super kings too has more support in form of flintoff in all rounder. Kolkatta Knightriders may spring up a suprise during tournament, but i still dont see them making it to semis this time. Rest of the teams, may find it tough to make a mark.

Players to watch out for: Duminy (He's the man this time according to me)

A game to bind, and leave everything behind

Posted by ani_aset in ,

What is the game that binds Indians? A game that can make any guy wake up 3 o clock in morning, switch on his tv, keep it on mute so as to not disturb other members who are sleeping at home..oh wait a sec..he also expects that the room where the tv has been kept is occupied by just him. You walk down the road and see hundreds looking at matrix of tv sets at an electronics store, they want to buy tv? naah..they are just catching up on the important GAME...no one wants to miss out on the action.

Walk down the road, look out for a guy with the radio..and just ask "whats the score?" no greetings, no hellos, don't worry he's still happy to respond with the score. A game that reminds of how during teens we used to wake up, and rush to the nearest ground on our bicycles early morning at 6 during summer holidays to grab the PITCH..fight over it..to ensure we had our match with , the losers opposite to our society ;) ( we made alot of money from these guys, helped our sports club quiet a lot..hey guys i'm not putting in the name here... PHARMA APARTMENTS DELHI-92...hahahaha)..Enjoyed beating engineering seniors, for sure at this game. Well Computer Science branch was good at it for sure..though we never won any of the finals which was the sad part. I can still remember going to a friends place after each semester exam, play in hot afternoon, call it a day with lemonade.(Vishal i still agree, kunal, rohit and pratik should have played atleast one game in transyamuna too ;))

Anyways, one cant imagine how much noise a room full of "would be" corporates can create, break up a few seats( gross underestimation mind you) right inside college, feel euphoric at around 2 am at night, and then realise that they have to study for the exam, which is at 9am :P
Well thats nothing, i know of students who decided to catch up on the game tv by finishing their exams well before time (read one hour early in a two hour exam ;)), and were happy to cheer for INDIA (guys you still missed out on some amazing live action ;) yes i am rubbing it in)

I mean how much TRP can a domestic tournament generate right. Well i guess one of the largest revenue spinner that the game has ever seen. For a country where it is already a religion, its no surprise that even strangers become friends when it comes to the game of CRICKET.

I just felt like writing about this game, after reading the blog of one of the new newzealand cricketer Ian O brien,...nice pace bowler, didn know he was into blogging. Catch it here. Made all the events related to this game just pass before my eyes.

Ragging...by retards

Posted by ani_aset in , ,

Bad word isn't it...well some stupid( an understatement let me tell you) seniors (or are they, seem like retards to me) in a medical college in Himachal Pradesh managed to kill a junior on pretext of ragging..What harm did this innocent chap do to these retards to instigate them to kill him. It's because of these retards that 'ragging' has got such a bad name.

Well what will just writing a blog do right? It cant stop these retards from having their share of ego massaging from juniors. I agree too, but theres more that needs to be done, than raising voice against such acts. Start small, educate your kids, friends, friends kids..or any god damn soul entering college to not strive for such cheap thrills of ragging and better get a life. A beautiful opportunity that college provides, to become what you want to ( I expect you are in college because you chose to ;)).

All i am doing is just trying to reach out to as many, so that they can reach many more, with just one simple message: Save more killings by Ragging. The message from the mother of the guy who lost his life to Ragging.

Recession

Posted by ani_aset in , , ,

This word "Recession" does bring a lot of sadness,i could not resist but write on this topic. The MBA community to me seems more affected. The reason being they actually understand what all it means, or hang on, do they? Well, placement season is on and i bet they know it better than anyone else out here. Companies visiting the campuses have reduced, so much so that even IIM-A grads seem to be facing a tuff time this year in lacing their students. Before i go any furthur, i wish all my juniors back in college all the best for their placements. I know i know its too late, but there are still people to be placed, right? Right.

At times i wonder if my education has actually made me more sad. The reason being, when i did not understand the word "recession", "inflation", "downturn"...etc etc i was much more happy. Sachin Tendulkar's shots or a nice game of volley ball or cricket was enough to give my share of high time, and no one cared a damn about inflation. Now, when we do understand it, i am even worried about Japan going down, Germany going down, i have to right, because now sadly i know. Now even a friendly call from boss to appreciate your work sends shiver down your spine, as to if this is it, is it going to be all over now. Now i know, that things are connected and like a domino effect if one goes down it takes others down with it.After following all recession stories on rediff, it really does look it can hapen to anyone.Everyone can be replaced, the company was working without you, and will continue to work without you :). Don't want to put up any more negatives, not my style.

"Ignorance is bliss" truly.

I guess i have found my way of beating the recession blues. Saturdays are not off yet :(, but yea few hours of salsa on weekend are a saviour from all the stress the whole week in recession has to offer.

And Neha i love reading your blogs, just wanted to mention it in my post some where :), they are a great relief.

Rock On....

Posted by ani_aset in , , , , ,

Well it doesn get beter than this, a movie that could remind me of the good times spent at college during engineering."Rock On" is one such movie..and the theme "Live your dream"...well how many of us are actually doing what we really like....i once read somewhere never to have back up plans for career...because if you have back up plans you are never fully committed to what you would like to do..because you have a back up.

Anyways, the movie reminded me of our band in college. At a time when every one was crazy about just english rock, we decided to keep performing songs that we liked...all soft hindi rock..and a few soft english rock as well. I can still remember winning at 4 college festivals by performing the same song.."Dhoom" by euphoria. We liked playing songs of euphoria, strings, a few by airsupply too. We never created any originals atleast in college.

the band seperated after engg, luckily 3 of us made it to the same company for work "Satyam"...and this was the time when we created our first original song...
and it started with the same feeling "Dreams"..leavin girl friends behind :))..for the so called long distance relationship...

i just wish i could get back to those good old days and meet up with the band more often and create some originals that we can record...

Some things that i can remember about what we used to do during practice:
1) ani on mike check making the "kissing" sound
2) rohit having to indicate not once not twice but thrice to start singing...
3) pratik improvising on synth, and claiming i can sing and play at the same time too,..while i kunal and rohit looked at each other sayin...naah leav it you will forget ur lines ;)
4) kunal engrossed in creating his own tune..

frens i can remmbr only this...add on to this

jaane tu ya jaane na...

Posted by ani_aset in , , , , , , ,

"So when do you know it is love"...Aamir khan makes movies..and his movies at times are perfection personified..this movie too was something everyone could relate to.."jaane tu ya jaane na". This post is not about the movie let me clarify that first. It's about how close to reality this movie i feel was.

When i joined nmims, our VC told us on first day during his address that x% of students who finish their MBA from nmims...end up finding a partner in the same batch ..and i was like...what stats..that too on first day ;)..well later i found few of my batchmates even calculating the probability that they cud be one them..

I figured out that according to this historical data, from our batch at least 12 people should be able to hit target (;) m sorry but Abhinav Bindra's olympic gold has made me use "hit the target" phrase quite often)..and the last count that i have, my batch has approx 10 individuals who will help achieve that target ;)

Guess all of them would have gone through same self realisation, that too in a much shorter time frame (for facts:jai and aditi(movie characters) i guess were together in college for 5 years..and my batch had just 2 years...mba's are superfast ;)).

Its a difficult feeling to realise at start. Its dificult to segregate a friendly feeling from affectionate love feeling. Its difficult to realise if something is being done as a friend or should be asssumed to be a step towards a different relation altogether.

There is so much fear of losing friendship that love actually has to struggle its way out most of the times, and most of the times it stays inside forever, waiting for the next....Target ;)
I feel one should let it out, this feeling and clarify it in the most candid manner one can..and that the other person should respect the feeling and decide objectively..if only things were so easy isnt it ;)

well things can definitely be easy..only thing is "understanding" becomes a more operative a word to make things easy..better understanding can lead to better achievements of ..."TARGETS" :P

Induction

Posted by ani_aset in , , ,

Went for my induction all the way to pune...and was lucky to see a wind farm...lots of wind turbines installed on a huge area...they call them dinosaurs..and huge they were...then a plant visit where they make these generators...and lots of fun with the training guide...he was damn lucky guy to have taken snaps with salman khan and katrina kaif...hehe..he even sold the idea of buying a wind turbine to salman khan..nice nice

There is this restaurant in pune..."Sigri"..awesome food and ambiance..recommended for all of you..
That was the only night we had some decent food in pune..rest all nights we were struggling to have proper food...We had ordered sweet corn soup once, and wow awesome it was..guess the cook took the order literally to have served us Corn and Sweets :P

Mumbai-Pune ride is one to be enjoyed..on the so called expressay...especially during the rainy season when everything looks washed out and new ;)..people too :P

First month

Posted by ani_aset in , ,

Well its the start of a new series after http://mbainmaking.blogspot.com where i tried to put together some moments of my life at NMIMS. That was "honest confessions", so welcome to "honest confessions-2"...naah m not inspired by the movie sequels...guess i will be able to write some interesting stuff...that you can read along.

Convocation..trip back home...good food..friends from college moving to different locations...phew all passed so quickly that by the time i could realise what was happening..i was left all alone...trying to setle down with the new life...life after an mba :)..yea that smile can be interpreted differently..but from me...as my friends will tell you..its full of sarcasm..

First month was pretty cool at office..not to forget the fact that i had already been to office couple of times...thanks to the new concept at my college of doing a CAPSTONE project...dont ask me why they call it that...

Naah..when saturdays are working..it cant be cool can it..i hate working on saturdays..i had dreamt of pursuing so many activities on a saturday..and all that seems a distant dream now...

Hey i forgot to tell you about why this green theme...from a black one...we are a Green company :D..wind energy..SUZLON...more about it in next post

Well first month was not as an mba will expect to be...we were learning on the job for a while...and after two weeks we were formally inducted :)...and on the job learning still continues...

Thats about it for the first month at job...
